220 square-foot micro apartments for rent for $1,500 per month. San Francisco has long been one of the most expensive cities to
live but this is getting ridiculous. What do you think? Click to read http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/S-F-supervisors-back-micro-apartments-4055493.php
Only in San Francisco

There was something disturbing about this article. While I do think that we don’t need as much space to live in as we maybe think we do–the idea that 200-something square feet for $1,500.00 seems out of balance. As the article points out, what does this rent do to other property values? Somehow we have to find a balance between living in 5,000 square foot homes for a half a million and 200 square feet for 1,500.00 a month. I don’t have an answer, but I know our expectations and experience of where and how we live is dysfunctional.
Hi Stephanie, You make some excellent points. Rent and price of homes in San Francisco are ridiculous. Years ago, I used to live in San Francisco but moved to the East Bay where prices are so much less. I had to commute to work but the money I saved living in a less expensive area was used to fund my 401(k), kids college fund and emergency savings. It’s all about choices. I know people that live in San Francisco and they even pay for a parking spot since there isn’t much parking in the City.
